She is immigrant and after 10 years her hausband has left her. Now she needs a college degree since she could finally got her diploma. She does not ask for help as a section 8 or other helps because she wants to be more independent.

i would recommend that she identify the jobs that she is most interested in and then get a degree as specialized as possible to that position.
have her ask people in those jobs about the skills required to fulfill them and recommend courses of study.
