Fashion Institute of Technology in New York
It has international recognition and nothing looks better on your resume. San Francisco Academy of Art is a good place too.

The absolute best in the country is Cooper Union in NYC. It offers FULL TUITION SCHOLARSHIPS to every student who goes there. It is the best art education you can get in America and it is FREE. However for that reason, it is extremely competitive and hard to get into. So have a great portfolio before you apply. Pax - C

The Cooper Union (but apparently, it only accepts about a hundred students per year, 40 from the state of New York, so its exceptionally difficult to get into this school)
The Rhode Island School of Design, I heard, is really good too.
(EDIT: well, I just realized that the 2 people above me already reccomended these schools. oh well, doesn’t hurt to reinforce their suggestions)
